Recommended Reels
I have been fortunate to make a career in fishing, and over the years I have demoed virtually every reel on the market. From casting new products at fly shops to trying different clients reels on the boat, I do my best to know what every rod offers.
Although there are quite a few that I really enjoy, I have narrowed down my recommendation to what I believe are the best 3 fly reels currently on the market. As technology evolves and new reels hit the water, I will adjust these recommendations as needed.
That being said, you cannot go wrong with any of these 3 choices and I will personally own them forever.
Hardy Fortuna
This reel is tough as nails and has the drag to back it up. The fully sealed drag system withstands saltwater applications with ease.

This reel is a head turner as it is completely customizable in color. Fully sealed drag is smooth and durable.

These reels are handcrafted with love and will last a lifetime. You can save money by purchasing a basic color such as black, or go all out and have the reel custom painted.
